What region in Australia should we visit to play golf and have a luxury holiday?

The Hunter region, in New South Wales would be good for golf, wine and some definite luxury, however far nth Queensland would provide absolute luxury and great golf without the wine region. Port Douglas for the rich is a certainty. Enjoy

hmm there are many great places in Australia, im not to sure which ones have golf though.. If you like the beach and fancy multi story resorts then the gold coast is a great place to stay. but more for wines and food with day walks and local towns down in the lower half of Australia is better. the hunter valley is really nice especially for wines and has some art. also around Perth there are many wineries to enjoy..

There are good golf courses all over Australia. Pick an area to explore for food and wine and the golf will be there too. Try the Rutherglen or Milawa disticts of Victoria; the Barossa Valley or the Coonawarra districts of South Australia; take a trip to the stunning Margaret River region of Western Australia; the Hunter Valley in NSW has been mentioned but the Mudgee area is a hidden treasure; Stanthorpe in southeast Queensland is worth a look.
The best golf courses are in the big cities – Sydney and Melbourne in particular – and they also have the best restaurants in the country. Any of the capital cities will give you great food and wine and wonderful golf.

North Qld – Cairns
The Paradise Palms Golf Club is a beautiful resort golf course set well into the picturesque tropical surroundings of northern Queensland.

For further information on the area – - plenty of Tropical rainforests walking tracks and other activities.

The GoldCoast has over 30 golf courses to name a few there is the Hope Island resort the golf course here was designed by Peter Thomson who was 5 times British open Champion. There is the Royal Pines . Robina Woods . Sanctuary Cove. The Parkwood International. The walks on the GoldCoast are to numerous to mention but there’s nothing better than an evening walk along the beach and we have all the Hinterland which has super walks at Springbrook National park. And there is certainly many luxury hotels from the 5 star Versace moving right down the scale . Enjoy

The area K Bear has recommended, Far North Queensland, sounds like it has everything you’ve asked for.
The Hunter Valley, as jools advised, would be good as well.
Also, jennifer h is right about Golf Resorts on the Gold Coast.
Places like Royal Pines and Villa Casablanca Golf Resort at Hope Island etc.
It looks like you’re spoiled for choice.
Whatever you choose, I hope you enjoy the break.

You will find good golf and wine around Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Hunter Valley, Gold Coast and Cairns/Port Douglas- just to name a few. I have done golfing trips in all these areas.
Where to go depends on what time of the year you are going and whether you have a strong preference for links or resort style courses.
One of my favourite trips started from Newcastle where we hired a car and spent a week stopping and playing golf at several places on the way to the Gold Coast. Newcastle, Hunter Valley, Tallwoods, Bonville, Byron Bay, Gold Coast.

Any of the great wine regions of Australia are fantastic . Check with the tourist bureau in the particular state you think you may visit. They will be more than happy to give you lots of free brouchres on accommodation as well as local attractions. Where ever you go have a great time. Margaret River has lots of interesting small towns about as does the Barossa and the Clare Valley

and nice beaches you can walk too great hoilday destination.

try laguna quays in the whitsundays.. it is accessable and a great place for golf. also try rydges capricorn resort they have 2 championship courses…

If you want a tropical based holiday try north queensland as K bear said. Great area, but if you prefer a cooler climate try the mornington peninsula about an hour south of melbourne. Great award winning wineries, great golf courses, like the dunes, eagle ridge, moona links and so many more, and so many things to do. You would love it.
