Golf Swing Techniques

Keith Perrett

Just about every golfer you talk to will be only too happy to give you a few pointers about how you can improve your golf swing. Golf swing techniques can be found at the 19th hole, in golfing magazines and books, on DVDs and videos.

Apart from the dazzling array of golf swing techniques available to confuse you, the language used to convey the message is sometimes so techno jargon laden that I wonder whether I am reading about a golf swing or microsoft’s latest software.

I appreciate that golf is a technical sport and that the biomechanics of the golf swing have been studied and recorded in great detail. The results of these efforts are plain for all to see with every swing guru advocating a favourite “law of the golf swing”!

Unfortunately the upshot of all this advice is usually an acute onset of paralysis by analysis – which manifests as dismal golf shots out on the course.

“The simple golf swing” is a golf swing technique based on 5 simple steps. It focuses on the golf swing basics, starting with your set up position over the ball. The aim of this swing technique is simple – simplify your swing as much as possible so that you have a golf swing that is consistent.

The result is that players, irrespective of ability or handicap, experience a marked improvement in their ability to land tee shots on the fairway and hit the greens from the fairway. And if you can do that consistently, as you will with this golf swing technique, then your scores have to drop and your enthusiasm for the game (and dare I say life in general?) has to soar!

“The simple golf swing” is not magic. It simply dissects the anatomy of the golf swing, eliminates everything that is unnecessary or confusing, and presents you with a no frills swing in a way that even I can understand.

So, lets get real. For most of us it doesn’t make sense to try to copy the golf swing techniques of the top pros – we aren’t good enough and we are going to make our lives a misery proving we aren’t good enough.

But that certainly doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy our golf and take on all comers at our local golf course. A consistent, repeatable golf swing that gives you confidence in your game puts you ahead of 95% of players you will play against. What a pleasant thought!
